WE PAY HOMAGE TO THE BOTANIST & SUSTAINABLE FARMING PIONEER

"I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." - GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER

"Our creator is the same and never changes despite the names given Him by people here and in all parts of the world. Even if we gave Him no name at all, He would still be there, within us, waiting to give us good on this earth." - GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER

The OAK & ACORN ~ Only for the Rebelles Spring Summer 2022 Collection, The Meditation : (S3) Seed - Soil - Soul is a call to the earth and the keepers of the land.

In The Meditation begins with a prayer:

We first encounter the Seed.

The Seed is the Word of God, the revealed truth, intention and potential.

The Seed then enters the Soil.

The Soil is the heart of the Earth. When our hands touch and toil the Soil, it is the energy from our heart centers that reach the heart of land.

For the OAK & ACORN Meditation Collection, we wanted to elicit a message of hope. The collection was inspired by my own desire to connect back to nature and peace through prayer, practice and meditation. We wanted to pay homage to a slower practice where artisanship equates to meditation. So for this collection we highlighted the artisan & married wellness with our classic denim workwear. The softer meditation inspired silhouettes are made from hand loomed Buldan cotton, indigenous to Turkey by a group of women artisan collectives. The fabric is washed in the sea and dyed with plants to achieve its organic color. The indigenous prints are handwoven and hand dyed fabrications from African artisan collectives. The pieces are fluid yet functional.

The OAK & ACORN product promotes the appreciation of slow-textile process & supports the skillful artwork of weaving. The fluid yet functional pieces are paired with our signature sustainable denim. We believe craftsmanship is art, and is derived from a strong cultural history. We believe sustainability encompasses these ethics in the preservation of indigenous practices, supporting artisan collectives and helping provide a liveable wage.

The collection is made locally in New York city & globally in Turkey, West Africa & Pakistan.
